Thanks Made a number plate, err, plate today. A sheet of 3mm ali cut to shape, painted and bolted in place on the original military plate bracket: Excuse the crappy quality pic - camera phones and low light don't play well together.
Yup, sold it to Jeremy on here. My original intention was to refurbish it but I was offered this new one, which has already been refurbished, and I couldn't resist. I have paid for the priviledge of somebody else doing all of the donkey work though Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? Used the headlights to continue working on our tandem in the dark - turns out LEDs are useful after all
Just finished modifying the bottom brackets and chainsets (F ing cotter pins - had to grind one crank off ) and fitting sensors for electric conversion. PITA though - it's 40 years old, French and nothing is standard - the pain will no doubt continue Also collected the neighbours' dogs (thank God for the guard) and the 5 of us spent the morning walking along the river in the forest Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Spent half the day under mine changing suspension bushes. One day I'm going to invest in a press just resorted to the tried and tested method of the good old Mr Record No4 and a lot of grunting I've left the A frame bushes for now as I'll get an A frame top joint and do them all together when it gets taken off. As per usual the last lot to be done were the ones that caused the most hassle, the first time I've not been able to undo bolts on my motor and had to resort to the grinder
On a plus note, totally non Defender, I bought a new to me tent off fleabay tonight for a reasonable price which means I should have a less stressfull 10 days at Bala this year not worrying whether I've got enough Gaffa tape with me to patch yet another rip as the old tent deteriorates in front of my eyes |

I noticed today that after sorting the bushes out yesterday that the wheel wobble at 45 to 50mph has all but gone(I'll swop tyres round as the front nearside has worn twice as much as the other 3 ). The biggest difference is the transmission play has drastically reduced and the whole driving experience is much tighter, just goes to show how a little bit of play here and there all add up
Still got a damned rattle, just sounds like a washer that is loose somewhere underneath |
