The choice of type really depends on what you plan to use them for. They're very different designs suited to carrying different types of loads. Try a search for 'roof bars' as there's been a lot of discussion about them over the last year or so.
They will affect MPG to a certain extent. They can also be noisy - the front one of my three generates some wind noise over about 50mph and I tend to take it off if I'm going any distance when it's not needed. Drove 250 miles after work, to collect my drawer from Ben... Then sat in the northbound m6 fiasco.
Plus some poor guy in an Evoque broke down in the fast lane. He said it just stopped, I was going tow him to the hard shoulder, but the boot wouldn't open to get the tow eye thingy So I called the police and went on my merry way(at 3mph or lower) |

After spending a couple of days sealing all the seams in the back of the 110 I went and spent £200 or so on sound deadening so that's my weekend sorted

@mk1 it'll make a great difference. I just put deadening all in/under my mss drawer, every little helps.

Yeah, hopefully sealing it up might get it dry then after this dynamat is down I've still got the front and the roof to do and I should have a bit quieter defender |
