Had some bonding time with my defender
![]() 655 miles to Birmingham and back, 11.5 hours driving. Averaging just over 20mpg ![]() It never missed a beat and was a lot more comfortable than I ever thought it would be. Beautiful day for it too. DMAKX |

A few days back had my gearbox and transfer box oils changed, thanks to greeni
![]() Next day I took a trip over to Telford to drop off the head from my Series IIa for reconditioning and lead free valve seats. Noticed a sort of "hum" at around 3000rpm under load. No idea what it could be, but it sounds like it's coming from the air intake??? Tried to re-fit my Highway digital radio again after a couple of years of it being out of use due to poor recepetion with internal aerial, but this time rigged up to my cb aerial. Signal now strong as possible, yet no audio from Highway radio, either via fm transmission or lead to aux' socket. Time for bin. Went up to Nottingham to collect some tyres for my IIA 1-Ton. I think I saw another forum member - silver 110 DC with grids inside the soft top on the back?

I decided to stick with crystals for main headlights and ordered a Rigid-Industries 40" E series LED bar, I will then have the ability to swap this between my trucks for maximum ROI.
Collected today - wow it's bright ![]() |

Fitted and played with this morning. Very straight forward job - fiddliest bit was threading the microphone cable through the back of the dash. Drilled a 20mm hole through the side of the glovebox for the cables without too much anguish ![]() Upgraded the software and synced the iPhone - job's a goodun ![]() http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

Yesterday, I attacked the Landy with a angle grinder and wire wheel, removed what I could of the rust, degreased and then used some Jenolite to treat the rust.
Once done I then applied some Zinc 182 primer and left it to dry fora 4 hours. Went to Ikea wardrobe shopping and ate some meatballs in the cafe. Got home and painted the primer with some Chassis Black. As the weather was rather warm the paint was drying almost as soon as it was on the chassis. This morning I was back at it. This time painting the rear X-member and finishing off a few bits from yesterday. Painted the fuel filter cover and then ran out of primer.... So need to order some more primer, get some new brushes then I can start again on the chassis. For the high Impact areas I am thinking of Clear stonechip? Fitted a horizontal spot light bar to my A-bar on the 110 (the spots usually hand down from the top piece, but my KC Daylighters I had on it previously don't fit the mounting tags)
So I made up a piece of angle and welded it in about half way down... spots sit on that now, looks good! Also made up the snorkel brackets for the project90 whilst I had the welder stoked up. and mended my plasma cutter ![]() ![]() ![]() |
