Yesterday, rather than today, picked up what turns out to be an early series11 109”,
and despite appearances is civilian rather than military. What to do with it now is my next dilemma.... Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Today I put in some cushions I had made by Bustle About, for the rear tubs wheel arches - matches my autobiography seats really nicely.

Topped up the swivels with one shot grease. Treated the canvas with Fabsil to keep it waterproof. Greased propshafts. Engine servicing when it's a little warmer.

Replaced the air filter. Remaining service tomorrow.
Replaced radio aerial - still crap signal, more investigation required. Replaced the tube for the washer jet. Replaced the duff section with some from the local fish tank supplier. Started looking for the oil leak on the drivers side of the engine. Cleaned the area prior to a drive to see if i can spot the leak. Refitted the chequer plate sill covers From this Click image to enlarge To this Click image to enlarge 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Stunning looking 110. Seeing it makes me a little sad about the humpback bonnet on my Puma.
Why people put Puma bonnets on older trucks I'll never know. |

Stripped the inside of the front, ready for sound deadening (tomorrow's fun).
Click image to enlarge For today, I just relocated the 'danger cable' between the two seat boxes from underneath to inside the cab - routed out of the front of the passenger seat box, through the box section between the gear stick and the centre cover plate then in through the front of the driver's seat box. I had no idea about this vulnerability until I saw it on here a few days ago - this forum always teaches me just how much I don't know! I'll leave a recess for the wire in the sound deadening tomorrow so that it won't be noticeable once the carpet is back in. I did discover a very rusty centre cover when I had removed everything.... Click image to enlarge Treated with rust converter, a couple of coats of rattle can black and it'll be ready to go back in. |
