We dropped a clanger by taking the toll roads really, not at all scenic, but I just liked emptying the fuel tank as quickly as possible Mr. Green

Take some photos Thumbs Up

Handy intel there, I’m off to near Chablis in July so I think I’ll fill the Jerry cans at Tesco in Folkestone by the sound of it!

Sounds a fun trip. Thumbs Up

In 1998 we did did a 50th anniversary run to Switzerland in a bunch of pre-pro and early 80"s.

Stayed overnight at Reims and toured the cathedral.

Noticeable as it was full of little statues and icons, unlike our stripped-out churches and cathedrals. The French didn't have Puritans!

The photo is when we went down the road to Epernay for a tour of the Moet & Chandon premises.

One of us slummed it in a RRC. Embarassed

Enjoy your tour in your Defender, but for the "fresh air experience" do it in a SI. Laughing

Awesome. Trip to Troyes, then on to friends in La Roche sur Foron. A bit of a slog, but as ever the landy brought out the best in folk. We parked at Troyes and a hipster on a scooter shout ‘nice car, very nice car!’ Then at some services there was a small crowd around it as I chinned an espresso from a distance. Saw one other Defender today, a 110 in grey on a private plate flew past me and waved. All good. 730 miles in two days.

Having a challenge uploading pics, Troyes is beautiful.

Troyes. The external stair well is pretty cool. Built to maximise working space for silversmiths. Every street is row after row of timber framed building.

Great run to St Martin from La Roche and I even ‘had’ to overtake someone on the way up the mountain- quite a feat in the 110! Which reminds me, I must visit BAS or Alive or JE.... Laughing

United Kingdom 1999 Defender 110 Td5 SW Caledonian Blue
Replaced the rear door hinge bolts with new stainless ones, and also replaced the pins in the hinges - Certainly very worn!

Replaced the Fuel Filter Air Bleed Valve in the fuel filter head.(Part WJN500110)
I had purchased this item a while ago (read a few months ago). Today I got a little reminder from the car to change it... Basically the 110 has sat idle for a good few days and not been started (off work so no need for a daily run). This morning, it was a hard start. Being cool I waited for the glow plugs to go out. Turned the key and turned over nice and quick (like normal) but would not start almost as if no fuel. Tried again, and eventually spluttered into life.
Bing! I remembered the valve I purchased. Time to fit it. After a quick google/youtube and on here and had a go.
Not a bad job to do. Jack up the rear wheel, onto axle stand, wheel off.
Remove the fuel filter cover to give more room.
Remove the fuel pipe of the one on the front left of the filter head
Remove the copper pipe (19mm spanner)
Replace with new part (after putting it together)
Tighten up (but not over tight)
Push fuel pipe back on.
Purge the air.

Started the car after the purge and started OK. During idling the car had two small 'coughs' I assumed this was a little bit of air moving through the pipes.
Checked, no leaks.
Wheel back on and off the stand.

Took the 110 for a spin and appeared OK.
Fingers crossed. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Yesterday, we went for a drive out to Loton Park hill climb.
Exactly one year to when I finished the v8.
A mate followed in his 6 year build mk1 Golf GTI, his first day on the road and he had to get mud on his tyres Laughing
