Drove past a stranded Corsa last night coming back from walking the dogs which had driven front end into a ditch. The lady driver had subsequently destroyed it's clutch trying to get back out.

I had no means of towing her out, embarrassingly enough.

Wonder whether it's worth investing in a tow rope, but I'm reluctant to damage my vehicle to try and help others - I've no experience in recovery. Don't do serious off-raoding enough to justify such stuff really.

I phoned a couple of farmers I know who hopefully turned up with a tractor (she had others with her who'd stopped to help).

Felt bloody useless. Embarassed

doing it properly you shouldnt risk your car, but my worry would be damaging theirs and they sue you - it happens a lot! Mike

Exactly, it can be the unexpected too.
In my case it wasn't their fault or mine but a tree branch stuck out.

But all the same, if it wasn't for them and me being there helping them it wouldn't have happened. No Guts, No Glory.

It was already pretty shafted Laughing

Most sensible would have been to suggest she paid for a professional recovery as she couldn't have driven it home anyway - even once it was out.

Last time I did this the police asked me to pull a car out of a field ! I wonder if I could still have been liable for damage?

Yes and no

If the failure was because faulty equipment, possibly...but you should be covered under the force insurance.

When we instruct people to do that, there is an element they must only act within their abilities, however, they are covered because we have asked them to do it. Mike

(last weekend)

Sound proofed my defender and fitted a focal ibus sub (under cubby box), new alpine head unit, alpine inline amplifier, focals krs 100 in the front, and focal 13cm in the rear.

Very happy with the results and look factory too.

Going back up a few posts. About 3 winters ago I was asked to right a little Nissan that had rolled on it's side in the middle of the road?? God knows how they'd managed that???... The little police astra couldn't get enough grip... Kindly obliged, As at first I thought I'd been pulled for bouncing over snow drifts.... Rolling with laughter

Removed some obsolete wiring that's no longer needed.
Also fitted this, puts the D44 holder back in use.

Sorted a couple of oil leaks that have been anoying me for a while.
Fitted a new transfer box output shaft oil seal.
Replaced the oil seal at the back of the flywheel.
Then tomorrow because the props are off I'll grease them up;Plus a full service & all oils change.
Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
