A couple of additions
Fitted a worklight today - Labcraft S17 Scenelight from Mud Stuff. Not too hard, although getting the fly leads on the piggy-back loom from the reverse light up through the grommet behind the speaker panel was a bit tricky as they were only just long enough. I fitted an aux socket in the back panel on the driver's side using the 12v supply that's already there, and piggy-backed off that to provide power for the light.

The end result looks OK I reckon. As others have mentioned it's a pretty low profile unit that's well built and finished, and certainly throws out a heap of light. It's switched via a 3-way rocker on the near side speaker panel, with an LED pilot light to remind me when I've got it in "reverse" mode.

Washed it. Cleaned the goo off the inside of the windscreen where the tax disc holder was.

Alpha-dot security marked it. This is quite a fiddly process! Stuck the warning stickers on.

Found a spare din cage to make a din mount for my CB so it can go and live in the holder on the front of the cubby box.

@SGH Your Keswick tipper is a lovely lovely thing. Real credit to you. Thought that when you first did it and now looks even better. What engine is it running? (Can't remember what it started out as? Td5?) 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

This afternoon I set about a couple of jobs that have been creeping up. First was the starter solonoid refurbishment, the starter came off easy enough, 2 minute job to replace the contacts, then the pain of getting the back 15mm nut back on Banging Head
Next on the list was front propshaft UJ, that's been creeping up this last week or so, slight vibration through the drivetrain and over the last three or four days odd chirruping noises from underneath on accelerating or decelerating, not every time as it all depends on which axle the drive is going to.
Whilst I'd got the time and some inclination left I decided to sort out my bumper mounted spots that had decided to go out coming back from a meeting the other night. I didn't really find a fault, there was power at the relay, the trigger wire from the full beam circuit worked but the power wire showed full voltage on a multi meter but when joined to the spotlight wire wouldn't light up the spots. Ended up taking the spare wire out of the power wire and they then worked so there must have been a break in the wire underneath the insulation where it couldn't be seen and just enough filament touching to give the multimeter a reading but not enough to light up the spots. All working now so I'm happy.
Might even tackle the back lights in the switches in the centre console tomorrow, but on the other hand I may not!

With the chirp noise and vibration you might want to read this.

It had crossed my mind in the way that there are allways those nightmares to haunt you, the best thing is that with the UJ replaced the vibration has gone and no noises. Don't think I haven't been keeping my ear out for them Whistle

Decided to swap out the A Frame Ball Joint and Fulcrum this morning to one of the new extra articulation and adjustable ones from Britpart.

Then remembered how difficult access to the Ball Joint nut is on a P38 rear axle on a 110.

The only 30mm socket I had was too deep to fit so spent the best part of an hour making dust with the bench grinder and now I have a the perfect tool to fit.

With the 176Nm of torque on that nut, you really need to have a perfect fitting tool for the job.

If anyone is local and needs to do their Ball Joint, feel free to come and borrow it.

Oh and yes, before anyone mentions, I do need a Dinitrol which is why I'm sorting all these little jobs out first.

Took out the OE rear door strip / retainer and seal.
Thought it was in great nick until I got it off and saw the rust underneath! Shocked

Luckily through design it's isolated from the body and now on the metal scrap heap.

Worth changing for sure! Screws came out okay though carefully avoiding rounding them out so removed by hand with screwdriver with a bit of force down into the screw head for grip.

Nice job got to do mine soon i did try earlier in the year when i swapped my axle over for a 300 one but couldn't undo the two ball joint bolts that hold the ball joint in place so think i will get the full one and replace it all Smile Graham

It might be a fair bit extra but with the hassle of pressing the old one out and pressing a new one in, an extra £20 saves a lot of time and hassle.

Plus this new one has more articulation, not really going to see the benefit of it with the ARB still fitted but also liked the fact it's adjustable and has a grease nipple. Craig Rogers
