After getting shot of the A bar I have another plan for reattaching the spotlights and numberplate etc etc. It will be along these sort of lines

I've had the thought for a fair time and doing a swop for a air-con panel on Saturday it finally kicked me into gear. The panel came off an '85 90 so a bit of cutting(oil cooler bit at the bottom) and filling(lock hole, fill in the bottom part where the starting handle goes through and the 3 fixing holes down each side) then paint. What did surprise me was that the panel is made of fibreglass, not aluminium.
The grill is just a 2m length of 6mm round bar shaped to fit the grill position, then a sheet of 0.8mm expanded aluminium(also gripfilled in the lower oil cooler part), and some 25mm galvanised weldmesh, all these cut to fit.
I did try to solder the mesh to the bar, unsuccessfully, hot glue had a partial success but all is immaterial as they are zip tied through holes drilled in the panel which sandwiches it all together using the round bar against the panel with the mesh bits inbetween.
New badge should be arriving in the post tomorrow to finish it off.
In all it's cost me about £20, paint, filler and mesh, other bits I had knocking around.

Here's part way through the creative process Whistle

Finished the front today, made a small bar that sits in front and above the winch to hold the number plate, spotlights and Anderson connector. It now means that I can just undo 6 screws to take the whole grill panel off which will make it 10 times better to clean the radiators. Before the A bar was over the grill fixing screws plus the spotlights were pushing the grill as well which meant all that lot had to come off before you could even think about gaining access to the radiators.

Shoved a bit of rubber into the bonnet hinges to stop the annoying rattle Rolling Eyes it might be time for a visit to Brendan for some security hinges which should cure the rattling problem

Finally got round to applying Dum Dum into the gaps around the bottom window rubbers to stop the water running down inside the door and out through the drain holes into the foot well.

I was glad that I bought two tins of Dum Dum before they stopped making it.
