Thanks to all for their posts in this thread.
My 2010 Puma had the following symptoms and solutions. The first problems began about a year ago when the wipers stopped parking. At that time intermittent still worked and would park but position normal 1 and 2 would not park. Just last week the intermittent stopped working as intermittent and worked the same as position 1. Then after another couple of days in the middle of use the wipers stopped completely. Fuse was blown. Replaced it with a spare and it blew as soon as position 1 was selected. Washers would work if new fuse was put in. Bought a whole heap of cheap fuses and tested them after I got home and following conditions were found. Wipers would not work with switch in any position. Washers would work. Fuse would blow in position 1 but not in intermittent or position 2. Fuse would not blow if wiper relay was removed in any position. Ok so today took the whole dash off at a local workshop. First we borrowed a relay off another puma in the workshop and swapped that but no action from the wipers and same fuses blowing as soon as position 1 engaged. Then we took off whole dash and changed the wiper return switch on the motor and that stopped the fuses blowing but with the old relay was no intermittent only position 1 and 2 worked. So was a relief to know the motor was not gone. Then swapped in the relay off the other car and everything returned to normal function. Perfect. So we did not have a spare relay and I will have to order one. So conclusion both the relay and the wiper return were broken. The wiper return switch was blowing the fuses. The wiper relay is running the intermittent and without it in at all like now. I can use position 1 and 2 to run normal wipers but without the wiper relay in the wipers will not park even with the new wiper parking switch installed. I worked with the locals doing this and took a few photos. One trick to changing the wiper return switch without taking off the motor was to use a mirror placed against the fire wall to see the way to line up and clip on the switch. So if you are facing these symptoms before buying a new motor change the wiper return switch and the wiper relay and then check if this solves problem first. My car is Left Hand Drive. The wiper motor is located on the right of the vehicle behind the glove box. I will post this first and then see if I can load some pictures which maybe worth a thousand words. Here is a video of the wiper return switch showing how it works. Here is an image of mine showing that part of the unit that acts as a spring has broken. See the loose piece of copper on left and its broken angled edge. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/jzaf6uzxncuqn9y...oc8-NwSPZa Here is an image of the wiper relay taken apart to show whats inside. This is located in the fuse box under the steering wheel. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/gqv51y2ay0niq3q...LNAJBWh79a Position of motor behind glove box. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/xfxqmg0tqz9hnul...wM4qVGLIpa Closer look shows the wiper return switch connected to blue, yellow and red wires and hooked onto the wiper motor. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/7bfl8aqqu1wbzyu...Jbh-vWzMQa Picture of wiper motor after the front dash is out of way. You can then remove that one screw holding the demister duct. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/95r2b7cvl03yxoa...O75xSy8Jpa Pictures of your puma dash removed to get it out you will need to remove the steering wheel. Mine came out because I also had to do some work on the aircon thermostat switch. This is the first times its been out and I had put it off for a long time. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/yjxtu79hof1vcg6...yeSz2RwVxa https://www.dropbox.com/sc/n874ivf5fexpqgs...ncbtiN4Cda |

From memory (so may have missed a few), the grab handle, the strip under the instrument binnacle, all (3?) screws along the top just inside the windscreen, all the screwd (2? each side) down the door pillars, and the screws on each side above the footwell (3? each side.
I don't offhand remember any others. I tend to remove all the screws for max wiggle-ability, even though the drivers side doesn't actually get wiggled much. |

Perfect, thank you BlackWolf, did it Tuesday, took 20mins for dash to be loosened as per your instructions and park switch changed, had been dreading it and actually very simple to do in the end, thank you for info. Cheers

Which switch did you change? Changing the park switch should fix it, not the wiper stalk. Ray My build thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic17615.html |

I had changed the stalk but I've also put a new motor in which didn't cure the intermittent and park so bought another park switch and fitted earlier and still no joy.
I thought the fuse would do all the wiper not just intermittent? |

Check the wiper delay (intermittent) module as the park switch signal is routed through it.
Top middle, big red relay under the steering wheel. The fuse (11 - 15A) is for both wiper speeds and intermittent so it is unlikely to be a power issue. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Thank you! I will be doing that first thing in the morning! Is it the same relay as the VW programmable one that you can put in?
I was beginning to run out of ideas as to what else it could be! |

Yep, it's the one that can be swapped with the VW "99" relay to give programmable delay 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

So just bought a genuine landrover relay and it doesn't work 😭
Is there any way if the motor has been put on incorrectly that it wouldn't set the intermittent off or park? |

Have you checked that there is an ignition live continuous 12v at the park switch? With ignition swich in position 11 there should be a permanent live supply. This is the supply whicn the motor uses to park itself when the switched supply is turned off. I started with nothing and still have most of it left!

Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge So it's definitely not the park switch. Couldn't find my volt meter. I used a posi pen as I call them I bridge two wires and put the switch on intermittent and hey presto they worked. Found a white and green wire which made the pen glow when I switched the intermittent on. Any ideas? |
