Trailer electrics
As I understand it. When the trailer electrics are connected the trailer symbol on the dash flashes to confirm the indicators are working, and the "lights on" symbol on the dash illuminates when you apply the brakes. I have noticed also that the front side lights (maybe the rear also, but it's difficult to tell) come on as well when you apply the brakes, is this normal/correct? I only noticed it when reflected in a window in front of the 90.
Thanks.

Trailer flasher should come on when indicating (unless trailer has LED lights in which case there's insufficient current draw to trigger it, but the trailer lamps still work).

Everything else on mine works normally. Braking certainly doesn't make the headlight lamp come on on the instrumentation or the side lamps or anything else.

I have a small trailer with standard bulbs and I get nothing strange. My camper trailer is all LED and so I don't get the trailer indicator flashing on the instrument panel. But that's the only difference. 110 2.4TDCi

If the lights come on when you brake, then that's usually an earth fault, either the towing socket, the trailer, or a cr@ppy connection in the plug & socket itself.

Try running a piece of cable from the defender chassis to the trailer chassis...clean bare metal points on both! (just get some helping hand to hold it in place) and see if that cures it. you'll know it's an earth then

Yes, as said above. If in doubt check earth connections. Nothing should happen other than the trailer indicator flashing when indicating to show that all the electrics are working fine. If a bulb goes on your trailer, the trailer indicator will stop working as a warning.
