I had the pleasure today of replacing the windscreen wiper drives on my XS 90, 3 hours later and with the dash in a 1000 pieces i thought i 'd ask what are the best mods to do before I put it back together again. Ideas were;
Bigger Mud stuff demisters with side vents - are they any good, at £130 i think there a bit pricy http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/DefenderVENT.shtml Auxilary harness / switch for roof lights (no lights fitted yet) Rev counter instead of the clock Any other ideas or comments welcome soon as when its back in one piece I intend it to stay that way! LRM [or was it LRO] did a mini review of those demisters last month ... didnt rate them too highly
And for what are basically a pair of shaped plastic tubes .... £130 They are having a laugh Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant. |

I think you are thinking of a different product. The ones mud stuff do are very good, the ones in the mag where bits of plastic that fitted to the top of the dash for £80 ish. Andy |

Thanks Andy I've seen these and I am not impressed, have you tried the Mudstuff ones? Its either fit those or try some homebrew ones. I think the double screen washers and wiring for heated screen are a good idea, thanks for the suggestions guys Pete |

Pete[/quote] No I have not tried them myself, but have seen them and like , having the heated screen makes a massive difference, but the side windows are a pain, just need to save enough pennies. Hi Mark I take it you used the existing two holes in the bulk head that are currently plugged ? What did you seal up the old nozzle hole with? PS like your motor, same year as mine but mines alot less modified Cheers Pete |

Swap the front wiper relay for the VW variable one.
Run a link wire to the rear wiper switch to provide auto wash wipe when used with the intermittent rear wiper kit. Possibly LED instrument lights? One of the things I remember doing years ago to a Series III was fitting a restrictor in the passenger side windscreen demister pipe to divert more airflow to the drivers' side. Less useful if you have a heated screen, of course. Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? Darren Where is the wiper realy located, I suspect behind the instrument module that i have just replaced not sure I understand your link wire mod but the led instruments are a good idea. I've a heated screen so no need for the airlow mod Pete |

Yeah, the relay is behind the instruments. Take a look HERE for more details.
The link wire thing is part of the instructions if you buy the rear intermittent wiper kit that can be found on eBay.
