NEW GEARBOX
Hi guys I've been to the dealer today with the following faults rattling back door, done Thumbs Up
A dong type noise from the back diff, they said it was the rear half shafts seals and have replaced them with up graded ones done Thumbs Up
Head light surrounds rusty, still waiting for them to come in Whistle
Having problems with the legendary second gear they have told me new gear box, so waiting on that to come in i'll keep you all posted on the out come. Thumbs Up NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY

Hi Fekete,
Don't hold your breath mate, mine went in for an gearbox oil leak 2 weeks ago and its still not fixed! They had to send the gearbox to a specialist to repair a seal "inside" the box. Any ideas what this could be?

Anyway, gave me a Freelander to run about in meantime. I'll see how it gets on in the muck tomorrow.

How would seals have anything to do with a "dong" noise - sounds more like mechanical wear than seals. Puma 110 - gone
Series III 1973 - going strong

DCH, Same as bud hard to engage when cold and better when warm, it's always been awkward but been getting worse, I told the dealer from the beginning there was a problem and it's just been recognized now, I've had the problem that long i can actually get it into gear no problem now but when the mechanic drove it it crunched every gear there is a nack to driving my lanny hopefully once the gear box has been replaced it will drive normal.
Hope this helps Thumbs Up

DCH its in next Thursday ill have it back Friday if you want to try it against yours no problem mate NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY

Fekete, can you explain the 'dong' noise you experience? I have a sound, when moving for the first time, either in reverse, or forward - it sounds like a stress 'clonk/dong'. Metal fatigue, or something of the sort. If it is a rear diff, or the half shafts, then I will get the guys to look at it. I would like to sort out everything before the warranty disappears.

Hi Chui, Same as you've explained when moving off for the first time clonk/dong. the dealer replaced the half shaft rubber spacers with up graded ones they said it was them ? as on inspection they were split but the clonk/dong is still there its in on Thursday for new gearbox . I will be mentioning the clonk/dong again ill keep you posted on the out come.
Regards
