Mines been sounding like you describe when turning it off ever since I have owned it at the start of the year. I'll see if I can get it checked out.

Does yours still make that scuffing kind of sound when you switch off now then mate?. It's funny but until other people have similar problems, you never know if it's a fault or a trait.Cheers, Richard 1963 Series 2A truck cab 2008 110 SW |

Does the Puma still use a dual mass flywheel ?.....if so then im sure this will be the source of the noise.
The ford mondao engne/clutch set up on the diesel has to be the worst in the world. www.4x4lrs.com 4x4 Response Member |

Since this topic started, I have noticed the noise more and more and don't now know whether it's betting more pronounced or i'm just more conscious of it.
On my way cross-country at the weekend, the engine check light came on. I carried on as there was no loss of power. Indeed once in Worcestershire quite happily towed the twin axle Ifor flat bed trailer full of Xmas tress off road. No problems. I was convinced that the problem was this scuffing sound and the clutch on its way out. LR Assistance tell me the EGR valve is on it's way out and needs replacing with an improved version. Now i'm going to tell them about the scuffing sound and question the clutch, but the LR Assistance mechanic sounded dubious when i suggested clutch problems as well. Any thoughts? |

The 110 now having been sitting in the dealer's workshop for 24hrs, the verdict is that the EGR valve is indeed past-it, but the clutch also needs replacing! I had suggested it to them, but they replied "I'd be surprised, probably just the EGR making the noise". That'll learn 'em.
Double whammy! Will report on before and after noises, feeling etc, when we get her back on Monday/Tuesday. Courtesy car is a F2 HSE - god i hate them. It's like driving a cheap sofa. I want my muddy noisy 110 back |
