Spare tyre compatibility
I have just purchased a set of 4 boost alloys fitted with General Grabber TR 235/85/16 tyres for my 57reg Defender 90. Would it be safe to use the old Michelin 7.50 R 16 as a spare until I can accumulate the funds to purchase another boost alloy and tyre?

As a spare it will be fine- but when I say spare it will be ok to drive to the nearest garage to get the other repaired

Thanks for the responses everyone. Just one thing more, when I got the wheels they came with wheel nuts. Only thing is there are two different types, one has a dimple on top of the stainless cap the other is flat. Are they the correct fitments? they look slightly different at the screw but both have the correct thread and fit a 27mm wrench.

I will try to post a picture latter.

It mite be that the one with the dimple is the locking wheel nut, see if the one with the dimple on it, That a cover pulls off it Thumbs Up NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY

The ones with a dimple are the locking wheel nuts, the stainless outer that has the dimple is just a cover that pulls off Thumbs Up

Yup - the dimple signifies the security bolt. Have you got the correct security attachment? One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

Thought of that, but the covers wouldn't come off. I will try to pull it off (if you pardon the expression) a bit harder tomorrow. The nuts didn't come with a locking/unlocking key.

I you can't remove the cap with the useless black sleeve simply turn it with your wheel key and it will come off (in your hand)!! 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Despite all the pulling and twisting the caps do not come off. I have measured them using a vernier and the dimpled (10 off) and the flat ones (13 off) are both the same - 27mm head, 29mm round shoulder and same thread. I can only assume they are an after market version. Looks like I will have to purchase a set of locking wheel nuts. Defender Virgin
