I'm not sure if they already have this (I doubt it) but fit braided hose. That way all the stamping power you put on the pedal will transmit to the callipers. There's slightly more maintenance in that you have to make sure they're not fraying but otherwise they're a relatively simple upgrade. It does change the feeling you get at the pedal but you get used to it.

Depends how deep yopur pockets are willing to go. Have a look at the braking upgrades on Alive's page. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

I have a set of military "armoured" spec brakes... the discs are huge. same diameter as the standard ones, but about half as wide again. came off of a salisbury axle I had on a previous 110.
Calipers are standard 4 pot, but with a wider spacer in the middle of them. don't give any extra stopping force, as a 6 pot caliper or larger pads would, but certainly stops the brake fade. Click image to enlarge Compared to a standard vented front disc: |

Hi Steve, what is the problem that you are trying to overcome? Do you need more feel, more effort when cold, prevent fade? Various upgrades options, but would be useful to know the specific problem you are trying to overcome?
Regards Mark. |

I just want to be able to stop a lot better tbh I was thinking along the lines of ebc green stuff or yellow stuff pads with slotted and dimpled discs
Really just wanted to know over people's opinions It's nt easy to stop 2.5 ton from 100+ mph Steve 2015 2.2 tdci hardtop xs 3.2 conversion DONE 238bhp and 707nm torque and thats just the start ;-P hybrid turbo in build -done ready to fit ashcroft atb in transfer box 6 speed auto in build |

EBC green is what you want if you go that way. Yellow ultimax IIRC they are aftermarket standard quality. I was thinking of fitting just EBC green pads to mine instead of Genuine but I'm still not sure. Some say they are great others say Genuine are better. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Hi Steve on my old slightly modified V8 ninety, I went for
Standard vented front discs Standard rear discs Mintex 1144 pads front and rear As per (http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/frame-detail.asp?PAGE=/mintex-brake-pads.htm Remove spring from front to rear compensator, ie 50/50 front/rear split (careful braking required on corners - practice 1st)! This setup worked fine for me on the high speed stops; your truck is slightly heavier, so if you wanted you could go for Mintex 1155 (esp if your front discs are not vented). Pads also do not wear out as quickly in the mud or sand (they used to be about double price though). My opinion of some other bits available (without extreme cost):- Change all the brake fluid not just a quick bleed - you could go for a hotter brake fluid (used to use AP555 - I think was called - it is more hydroscopic through so needs to be changed more often - not great on off road maybe - tech might of moved forward here). Vented discs - very good - remember to clean after off roading - more easy with open wheel design - airline easier than water. Groved discs - good for scraping glazed pads, but if you give it welly fairly often, or use in mud/sand the pads will not glaze anyhow. Drilled discs - pointless IMHO - just provide a point for cracks to start and an extra place for stones to get stuck and destroy the pads (esp. on 4x4). Just my 2 pence worth!! Regards Mark. |

Cheers thanks for that I will look into it
That's why I thought slotted and dimpled would be better Steve 2015 2.2 tdci hardtop xs 3.2 conversion DONE 238bhp and 707nm torque and thats just the start ;-P hybrid turbo in build -done ready to fit ashcroft atb in transfer box 6 speed auto in build |

Might be worth a chat with Dve Round at Llama 4x4.
He makes a lot of braided brake hoses for other companies. Me? I know nothing about updated brakes. Hiwever would suggest you talk to someone like Dave who has specialised in this area Brendan |
