Gearbox additive for transfer box?
Anybody tried any additives in the transfer box?

Mine has now done 130,000 miles and has always had a little whine, most noticeably between 50 and 60 mph. Its been like that for over 100,000 miles now but just starting to get more noticeable now as the box wears.

Now i know that the box needs replacing and all that but i just thought i would try a additive until i grt round to it, just to see what happens. Also i dont want to change to disco gears, although they are quieter i do a lot of heavy towing.

Also the transfer box is already running a good quality fully synthetic 75w 90 GL5 oil which is changed every 12,000 miles so im quite that changing just the oil will not help with what i want.

So who has tried what and what results have they had? Im not looking for "snake oil" but just something to help keep the whine down a bit, if such thing is out there.

Many thanks.

Pete.
