Hi Morepower, actually undersealing a LR yourself isn't too bad a job if you take it one step at a time. I undersealed mine at the weekend as I wanted to get it done before it ever got wet or dirty and couldn't wait any longer for the weather to warm up. I found the internal chassis wax was the easier job than the external spray-on underseal as half the time I couldn't see what I was doing with the underseal or couldn't get to point the can exactly where I wanted. I still have the very front of the chassis to do (need to take the bumper off) and inside the door posts but they can both wait. I warmed the cans a little and left them inside until I used them so that the contents stayed at a good useable temp, go for it!

110 SWU Acoustic Engine Cover?
Well I have my new 110 station wagon utility, no underseal which is not what I expected, can any member confirm if it should have a full engine acoustic cover as described on the website?

Mike, mine has a plastic cover over the front third of the engine/radiator area and a smallish rocker box cover, nothing you would describe as a full hood. It's a month old.

I agree with John . Mine is also a month old, same cover.
Landrover seem to slightly embellish their add ons.
I have also fitted a noise killer engine blanket , to cutdown the noise.

I thought it common knowledge that JLR stopped applying any kind of protective wax / underseal the introduction of the Puma model in 2007. Having had plenty of previous models that had been waxed at the factory when I took delivery of my first Puma in 2007 I complained directly to JLR about the lack of protection, the following was their reply:

Quote:
Dear Mr XXXXX

Thank you for your email which has been passed to me for my attention
and reply.

I have looked into your concerns surrounding the application of waxoyl
to your vehicle I can advise you that the release of the Defender 2007
has provided Land Rover with the opportunity to improve product &
processes wherever possible. In line with this there has been an
amendment to the application of under body wax.

This treatment was originally designed to provide short term protection
during delivery. From 1999 onwards corrosion protection for the chassis
frame & fixings has been subject to a number of upgrades. Improvements
to the paint process have further enhanced corrosion protection for the
chassis area.

As a result the blanket under body wax application is no longer
required. The under body wax process continues but now targets the
machined bare metal parts, as these are most susceptible to surface
corrosion in transit. The performance of all other components will not
be adversely affected by this action.

Under body wax has not been removed. The application process has been
amended to improve efficiency with no deterioration to the protection
offered.

It would be at your discretion if you decided to have waxoyl applied to
your vehicle.

If I can be of further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me,
I have provided details of which at the foot of this email.

Yours Sincerely

Regardless of the above a number of us at the time managed to convince our supplying dealers that the undersides and cavities still needed protection which resulted in them carrying out a free application of underbody wax. But that was way back then and it would be a snowflakes chance in hell of the same happening now so it's either DIY or take the vehicle to somewhere who can. Steve.

Agreed - I had my 07 treated free by the dealer when I raised the issue with them but no such luck with the 11 year. I had that waxoyl treated myself. John
