Cruise control with an overdrive.
Quick question as search engines are coming up with nothing useful so far.

Has anyone seen a Cruise control kit for a non MSB (ie post 2002) td5 that will work with an overdrive fitted?

Curiosity and all that! Very Happy 90XS Tdci John Eales

I'm no expert on td5 ECU's but isn't that a different ECU being an early td5? 90XS Tdci John Eales

May be but as I have a Irb remap I'm sure the later programable chip is in there! Ask Tim at Mobile but I'm sure the cruise control will work fine on yours.

The NNN ECU has cruise control built in but won't work with overdrive or higher gearing.

Th mobile centre kit is external to the ECU so may work.

An MSB ECU with a programable chip is not the same and does not have cruise control.

The mobile centre kit (also available from me Thumbs Up ) works with MSB ECU's... in fact will work with most things. It doesn't car about final drive ratio, wheel size etc etc. Set up is done on the car when fitted.

Hi Ian,

Are these in stock now? I have been looking at the mobilecentre website and it has been out of stock for age?

Thanks,

Steve

If you have the NNN ecu, it has the cc built in and all that is required is a pulse divider on the speed wire going into the ecu.

I've done it with disco transfer gears. The clock will still read correctly.

I found the speed healer for motor bikes set at 15% reduction in pulse rate has sorted the problem.

Could you elaborate a bit more on this... sounds interesting. Thumbs Up

The wiring up of the cc on the NNN ECU is covered here very well by someone, can't remember where but it goes into good detail.

For the pulse reduction I used Speedohealer by healtech electronics, they make them for bikes mainly and are electronically adjustable, so basically you can increase or decrease the pulse output as a percentage of the input pulse. Just fit this to the speed input into the ECU, a little bit of wiring is all that's needed. Google it, I'm on the iPad and you need flash to view website so I can't post link.

Incidentally I bought it from the French stockist as it worked out cheaper than UK. €100 odd if I remember correctly.

I can take a few photos over the weekend if you want.

Mine works perfectly with the disco transfer gears now.
