Dum Dum (general areas) & Sealing Compound (windscreens, capping's etc) from Frosts.co.uk
If you can't get hold of Dum Dum just get the window sealing compound it's the same stuff just slightly runnier/tackier. I squirted out 4 lines of the sealant and left them for 5 days they where less tacky and more manageable then for the areas you need to just thumb in Here http://www.frost.co.uk/automotive-windscre...ealer.html Many of the silicon sealants are like a very strong glue as windscreens on modern cars are a structural part and therefore need cementing in properly - Defenders don't need this of course and you save a lot of hassle for future maintenance if you use the right stuff. Don't use bathroom sealants etc they are not designed for the job and some have an acidic content to prevent mould which will damage your paint etc long term. Best to just use the right stuff in the first place |

Hmmm. I bought Sikaflex 221 for mine. Had intended to do the cappings and anything else...but not needed to as yet...
Is sika 221 a bad product??? Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

Thanks guys, I'm slowly identifying the sources of the leaks. I've removed most of the interior trim from the rear load space on the nearside. 2 small gaps between rear door seal and bodywork. One at the junction of the capping and the other at the junction of the seal and the roof. Easy fixed I reckon. The third is proving a bit more difficult and this is the one that concerns me most. It appears to be water thrown up by the rear wheel and making it's way between a joint somewhere in the area of the wheel box and rear seat box/door slam. I'm waiting on the word of LR for the main dealer to proceed with the work. I guess they'll get a closer look on Monday when it's in for a new rear screen and oil leak from the transfer box.
