When running the decat pipe I experienced some P1103 DTC logged that mean the measured value of mass air flow is in range but higher than expected.
This can be a "proof" that the decat allow a more efficient gas exhaust and fresh air intake.

Mr. Green
Having now been told by members of various backgrounds that the smell (and probably toxicity) of the exhaust gases is considerably worse after decat, it's obviously not there just to appease the tree-hugging Lefties Rolling Eyes
So considering I spend hours a week stuck in traffic, I will not be running without a cat completely, for my own sake as well as others. Your sports-cat solution is very elegant, so I will be looking for something similar here (wish me luck!)
If I were just offroading, I'd probably fit a straight-through in a flash Laughing
Back to choosing that intercooler then... Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

I think that you will easily find someone in your country that can replace your cat and do a fine professional job. I suggest to made a search in some engine tuning related forum.

About the intercooler, I'm very close to buy the Allisport but before I want remap only to keep the EGR off. I already bought the SAMCO silicon hose.

We have some new Defender intercoolers almost ready for release, with a build quality and finish like nothing you've seen for a Defender ever before.

We can have 304 grade stainless downpipes, with a sport cat, made should anybody want one. It was my intention to release these early last year, but the downturn meant people would not spend such money, and with no demand, it made no sense for me to continue. Looks like the demand is back, and I'm ready to respond. Wink

took out the intercooler yesterday

cleaned it out with some engine cleaner (black) then had it stand filled with diesel during the night.

Today, some 20 hours later the diesel came out black and you cannot imagine the grid and pieces that came with it.

Dried out and put back. Anything should help while funds are still growing.

Still wonder if cleaning the IC at 100k is part of the maintenance schedule? (as it was on disco2, TD5 etc)Couldn't find it on the net. (I have 90K appr)

Smile

Am I right in presuming that the sport cat would run a tad less hot? Bit reluctant to run without cat it as the local trucks and 2-stroke mopeds already do a splendid job polluting the environment.

A sport cat should run pretty much as hot as the OEM one, but will be less dense, and so will allow better gas flow.
