Problems with headlamp protectors
I have Genuine Landrover headlamp protectors on our 110 and one of the passenger side top rivnuts is spinning in the panel and the screw is seized.

What are the options ?? Drill it all out and replace ? How easy is it to go to it from underneath ?

If you can get a set of molegrips on the rivnut from behind you maybe able to unscrew the bolt as normal and then tighten the rivnut up ...

How easy is it to get inside of the top outer passenger side wing ?.

Does the arch liner have to come off ?

Been there, done that. The model you have will determine how much potential free space for access you have under the wing via the engine compartment. You might get away with removing the headlamp and bowl assembly and getting in that way - especially if you can get someone with small hands to help! That said removing the inner wing is more fiddly than difficult.

Attempting to drill out the rivnut might work if you can stop it spinning and enlarging the hole in the wing. Steve.

In that case I'd first try removing the side and indicator ligths, headlamp surround, headlamp & bowl and see if you can get someone to get a grip on the spinning rivnut while the screw is undone. Steve.

Access is the problem, without the headlamp protector removed I am struggling to get the headlight surround etc off.

Can you get a terminal screwdriver behind the guard and tap it into the bulge/ lip of the rivnut and apply some pressure to it while someone else try's to turn bolt head ?

Oh doh, of course it will hinder it just a bit, sorry for the brain f@rt moment! Embarassed

Are these the perspex protectors do you mean steel headlamp guards? In the past I've drilled down through the screw starting off with a small pilot and applying pressure by one means or another to stop the whole lot from spinning. If they are steel guards you could carefully grind the head off the offending screw enabling the guard to be removed and then the rest of the screw to be drilled out. Steve.
