2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Galway Green

brake issues HELP!!!!

My 2010 puma has started hissing from the pedal, I've never noticed this before today, i didn't seem to have any braking issues today on the way home from work, but found it when i was parked on the driveway turned the stereo and heater off,

the pedal can be pumped to 'hard' when the engine is not running, but after starting the engine, you can push the pedal down until it goes hard then it slowly creeps down ?? all the time with this sound of a bellows being pumped ??

i've checked the fluid, there is good level, no leaks and no bubbles in the tank, i had the wagon serviced only 5K ago ?

is this normal, ( i hate to say but i just checked my wife's golf and that seems to be the same although it has 130K on the clock and is

)

advice please hive minds

2011 Defender 130 Puma 2.4 HCPU Alpine White

Check the brake booster,your brake fluid resovoir is attached to it, you cant miss it. The booster has a large rubber grommit attaching a plastic tube to the body of the booster, check this grommit is not leaking air by having someone pump the brake peddle while you listen.

where you describe the brake pedal going down after starting the engine etc, it should do that.
