Loss of power after going through flooding...
Good afternoon and Happy New Year. I'm after some technical assistance for my sick Defender! 2006 TD5 Dual Cab. Last month I drove through a very rare flood here in Dubai! Which resulted in water ingestion into the air filter compartment and subsequent power loss. My local Landrover specialist took it in, replaced the air filter, cleaned the plugs and cleaned the MAF. Their magic fault finding box stated no fault found.

The defender drove a lot better but has lost a substantial amount of pull and no longer accelerates past 120km/hr.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I miss the old girl. Happy New Year. Mike

I recon your MAF will be shot. This does not always show on diagnostics. Try running with your MAF unwired and compare, but better if you can fit a good MAF and compare. They are delicate things and won't have dealt well with water passing through.

Also check wastegate is freely moving.

Hurray - the old girls back
The initial cleaning of the sensor had no effect. Transposing another one brought her back to life. So quick sensor replacement fixed all the problems. Brilliant. Must get that snorkel fitted....

Fit a snorkel. It's height will reduce dust intake which must be heavy where you are.

Hi Mike

Off topic but is yours the dual cab round the back of Spinneys, Umm Suqeim? I take my laundry to the place on the corner and always stop to admire it. Haven't seen any other dual cabs in Dubai

Hope you return it to robust health

Cheers

Alan
