Get it up to about 65 mph. The vibrations will help while you pull.

Thud
you beat me to it....I was going to suggest (for those brave enough).....take it up to about 7 or 8 mph in FIRST gear and I hope the steering wheel falls off before anything else due to severe vibration !!! (don't ask )..... anyway good luck - Hope you're sorted soon. |

Use a little storm lighter to gently warm the wheel just around the splines - I've done this successfully before... but not on a Defender Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

In my case, the nut wasn't the problem, it was the contact between the wheel and column.
I have warmed my nuts up before twisting them in the past though... Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

I meant where the column and wheel join, I think my mind is going soft from spending so much time with the kids over Christmas

on the wheel with the land rover badge in the middle there is holes in them which will take a m6 or m8 bolt cant remember which but if you stick them in you can do them up to put pressure on the wheel causing it to pop off CSK Automotive

Once you finally get the wheel off, subsequent removal is much easier if you put a smear of copper grease on the splines before refitting the wheel.

Have you tried tieing the steering wheel to a wall and driving off (make sure you duck).

I made a steering wheel puller a while ago for tractors big cutting the big end off a Conrad, slip this on behind the steering and use a standard 3 leg pullers.

This is what I used:
