New ZU and BFG AT combo wobbling badly at 50-60 mph. Checked all bushes, balanced twice, replaced steering damper. It just got worse. After the second trip to the tyre shop (recommended for being the best) my wife could feel the vibration sitting in the passenger seat!
I took a wheel off to check a hub. Couldn't be bothered to drag my compressor out so used wheel wrench. Once loose I noticed that if I rotated the wheel the nuts came off with my fingers easily at around 4 and 7 o'clock. ![]() I spoke to ZU who said that they cannot really control the thickness of the powder coat but had to allow a certain tolerance for it. Maybe the coating on mine is very thin? They also said they have had a problem in the past with after market wheel nuts. My 110 is an XS, I assume my nuts are genuine.... (fnaar fnaar) Anyway, the upside is there is now NO wobble. |

With any coated wheel new or refurbed always ream the central hole and the nut holes make no exception
We then zip them up to hand tight then torque bar to the correct Nm |

i always get the tyre fitters to finish off with a torque wrench - and watch them do it - gives me a warm feeling and double checks that every stud has been tightened properly.
I once sat in a car (passenger) and watched one of the wheels come flying past on the Hammersmith by-pass ![]() |

Had exactly the same combo and the same problem.
I Replaced almost everything in the car and the wooble didnt stop. Finaly i noticed that the wheel nuts are about 1-2mm smaller in diameter then the zu holes... I made a bracket and placed it inside the wheel nuts hole and inserted the nuts insite and the wooble stopped. the nusts are just too small for the zu wheels... |

No. Standart Nuts are for steel wheels, the zu rims are alow and need cones as nuts. the nuts are from britpart |

IIRC standard LR nuts for alloy wheels work with Zu wheels - could be wrong though ... John

Allow nuts are shaped like cones so that when they press on the allow they wont make damage. still nuts centers the wheel because the wheel nut hole is shaped like a cone. if you use regular steel nuts on allow wheels you will damage the allow |

Do you have the LR part number for the LR nuts ?
