The Freelander Braemar, offered with the 1.8i engine and manual gearbox, comes in three-door hardback or five-door station wagon form (no poncey softback models for the Scots). The three-door (£16,995) has 17-inch alloys, front and rear mudflaps, a wheel nut kit, front and rear lamp guards, side rubbing strips, a single CD player and tinted glass. The five-door (£19,495) has 17-inch alloys, front and rear lamp guards, side rubbing strips, tinted glass and a CD autochanger.

And finally, the Range Rover Braemar, the one to go for if you really want to impress out on the grouse moors, comes with either the 2.5 TD of 4.6 V8 engines and has a wood and leather interior, picnic tables, tinted glass and Playstations. It costs £42,995.
