Rear Crossmember
Took advantage of the weather this morning and treated the rear crossmember to a fresh lick of Satin Black.

Set up a timelapse too, will post that up once I've edited it.

Stupid question, what kind of paint, and did you brush it on or sprayed it? (just asking as might have to do this in a year or so)

Looks really nice and smooth. Thumbs Up

Don't wait a year! Better to do it from new before any sign of rust would appear. Satin paint at the outside and thorough Dinitrol or other anti rust treatment at the inside should keep your crossmember as new Thumbs Up You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Wire wool to get the small amount of surface rust off. Then some primer (normal not etching) then Satin Black.

Timelapse video will show it all......coming soon. Craig Rogers

OK, added to the "things to do" list. (a list that seems to get longer every day)

I've always sprayed mine from day 1 after cleaning with a good liberal coating of WD40 and periodically in between. Looks as good now as when I got it!

Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!

And stainless bolts are a must too to set off the whole fancy look.

All of my ones on the crossmember are stainless except for the towing bracket fixings as they need to be a high tensile.

They get buried once a year anyway when I add a couple of tons of red chips, easier than raking them back from my neighbours driveway. Whistle Very Happy
