Mileage and mpg
What kind of mileage do you guys get out of a full tank of diesel? I just worked out I'm only getting about 22 to the gallon with about 350 miles to the red line. Is this normal or low?
Cheers
Ray

Over the last 15 months I've averaged 24.3 with a high of 26.8 and a low of 22 (whilst towing a large carvan). I don't drive particularly economically and day-to-day I do a large amount of very short journeys - 2 miles and under. I'd be quite concerned at 22mpg as a regular figure. Darren

I do long runs mainly, not much town driving.

Have a look at my fuelly on the bottom of my post, Average about 28 mpg.

I think tyres, modification, driving style etc will make differences.

Hmmm that sounds similar to my journeys. The only mod is a decat and centre silencer removal that seems to have improved the mpg so as the 110 seems to run nice and smooth maybe I have a problem Sad

that is a very good spread sheet you have there,i am actually scared to tow my caravan a 23ft twin axel as my mpg goes down to 15-16 mpg,i have never had this problem before on 2 prievious td5s the mpg was always almost the same whether towing or not and i have had the same caravan for the past vehicles

I've averaged 27.6mpg over the last 8000 miles (with a high of 32mpg and a low of 21mpg) - my runs are usually over 30 miles with quite a few over 150 miles...
All standard (TR standard so roof rack and spotlights etc), and the last 5400miles with BFG AT's Thumbs Up

I am averaging 24.5 ish in mine. Td5 auto, on 265/75 cooper st max, 2" lift, full external roll cage and partial internal cage and winch bumper (so it is fairly heavy compared to standard).

This is for a 20 miles each way mixed town/rural/city commute.

With roof tent on it was 23.5 to 24.5.

No remap and pulls very well, and I drive as I feel like and road conditions allow. Our blog - http://landytravels.com/

So mines definitely on the low side then, maybe my brakes are binding or something as it seems to run nicely

Have tracked mine on an iphone app since March 2011. Average is 29.2 over just over 20k miles.

No heavy towing, hardly any long runs. Mostly just rural'ish round trip commutes of 50 miles and general pottering around. Tend to drive it with reasonable mechanical sympathy (in my eyes at least), which must help the mpg.

Remap & EGR removed, 235/85 AT's, Roof rack. Little bit of extra weight from tread plate and under body guards I guess. 2SO every other tankful. I don't think this makes any difference to MPG other than a small amount of diesel displacement. Only had one month of tracked stats pre remap and I've gained 1-2mpg as a consequence but I just view that as a small bonus.

Under 'normal' (define that as you will) conditions, I've assumed a td5 typically returns something in the upper mid 20's. Much below that on a regular basis would make me dig around a bit further, or at the very least, drive it like a nun for a tankful as a control experiment. Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.

Front external roll cage, Disco transfer box, 7.50 x 16 tyres and a Maggiolina roof tent are the only external mods which might effect mpg. Although I never see a difference if the tent is on/off.

Engine mods are Irb inter cooler and VNT turbo but no remap.

I usually sit around 60mph at 2250 rpm. I like doing the fuelly, it might let me know of problems early.
