255.85 they aren't as wide so stop the muck being thrown so much up the sides

Stating the obvious, but 255/85/16 are a larger diameter than 265/75/16. Therefore your gears will all be higher (by about 5%), but your speedo won't read any different. Should probably make it read correctly, as they over-read normally.

The 255/85/16 do not render the TD5 too winded?

You mean can it cope with the larger tyres? It should be fine as long as you have the standard 1.44:1 transfer box in. The gears are pretty low anyway.

This is the fcx 130 on 255/85/16 BFG MT KM2's
We have the 130 with BFG's on and the 110 and 90 both have Cooper STT's - I like both tyres equally and would be happy to recommend either. The TD5 130 pulls fine with the taller tyre however it does have a Stage 2 kit from Alive Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

Here's mine on 255/85/16 KM2s. I believe there are spacers on it though so I do get muck spraying the body. The one time I washed it, it was dirty 100m from the exit of the car wash.

I'm thinking of possibly this size tyres on my 90 when I change, are there any clearance issues with standard suspension? 2005 TD5 90 Hard Top

Click image to enlarge This is "Zee-Rover" with BFG AT 265/75/16 on Zu rims. Indeed muck is prayed on the body, but I don't care very much about that. I think I'll switch to 255/85/16 when I need new tyres. Otherwise I'm very happy with the tyres and rims.
