I know it does not help now but there were a few sellers at the Newbury sortout selling VC5's and VIN plates with very little else...
I was surprised how many there were actually were, or how many I noticed this time. Jason. |

Our first reported success.....
Received following from AVCIS this morning (and cleared to post on the forums)
I've not been told to which actual ID this one related too, as suspect that is too sensitive. It's a start.... please keep sending them in Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless. |

That is good news Jon
I would not expect the police to give details out, but to know they have had a success is good. It would be nice to know what other things they found and what other leads they picked up. No chance of finding out really though. Brendan |

Sadly, I heard from my main contact at the rural crime side of AVCIS, that he is going back to his local force next week and the powers that be have decided not to replace him. So that will only leave one person on that section and he'll no doubt be busy with all the nicked farm plant etc... Going forward now, I'm not sure how much feedback we'll get and indeed what action they'll be taking on anything other than the easy/blatant examples Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.

It's easy to see how this situation has developed and it probably affects a lot of vehicle makes. I have had three cars for which DVLA issued me with new red log books in an attempt to prevent fraud due to a load of the old ones being nicked from them a couple of years ago. However I was not required to return the old log book, just asked to dispose of it. I sold my 300 Tdi a cpuple of months ago and guess what, I gave the new buyer the new log book but I still have the old one, I wonder how many dishonest people could make use of that?
Cheers all, 2.2 90 XS 88" Series One Old Norton Minerva |
