Help amd advice on MOT adviosory notes
Hi All, I'm new to this so please bear with me!

I'm on the verge of buying a 2007 (57) 110 XS SW LWB and before doing so I've made a few checks on this vehicle. Looking at the previous MOT's I've seen an advisory note which said the following: Break Anti-slip worn & Dampness rear of transmission. i dont really want a hefty bill after I hope to buy this vehicle so can anyone out there let me know roughly what the cost would be to rectify these issues. I believe the the antslip is the traction control, is this correct? I'm guessing there's a leak in the rear transmission, am I'm correct? The asking price is just under £17k with 72k mileage. looks very tidy!

Thank you Neil

Brake anti slip is probably the rubber pad on the brake pedal. Not a big repair but may be indicative of high mileage.

As far as I know neither of these would be grounds for failure.

welcome to the forum Thumbs Up

57 plate was the first year of the puma/tdci models, there were a few "teething" problems with the new model but with 72k they should have all been sorted out.

before you buy: have a good look underneath for anything loose, leaking or bent, check under the carpets front, middle and rear - make sure it's all dry (it should not smell like a dogs bed inside). Check the colour of the oil, check power steering fluid and coolant levels - thses should all be fine, but if not, maybe there's been some skimping on servicing. when you drive and brake, it should not pull in either direction, test hi/low & difflock (on grass / gravel). Overall, the 2007-on is a great truck, 6 gears, heater that works etc. expect a suprise from time to time, either get a good warranty or save a little each month.

good luck

IIRC there was a recall for the transfer box output shaft seal which if it fails can cause contamination of the transmission brake. Armed with the VIN number your friendly local dealer should be able to look up what recalls and warranty work have been carried out. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.
