I'm told it can be made to work but Ian from IRB has always said to me it is better to use the MSB. I've never asked why but if he says so it's usually right! Why would tuners go through the hassle of desoldering chips and putting sockets in these if it was easier to use an NNN flash-able unit? |

It's more to do with cost I expect. Even second hand EU3 ECU's go for strong money.
Discovery Td5 ECU's differ from the Defender ones as well, so you need to be careful. |

The following software should be programed into the ecu for a older 1999 car originally fitted with a 171 ecu.
NNN000120= STHLE 022 STTLP 009 European Defender No Aircon STHLE 022 STTLP 009 European Defender With Aircon NNN500020= STHLE 022 STTLP 010 European Defender No Aircon STHLE 022 STTLP 010 European Defender With Aircon The NNN500250 is for a discovery. SVLNE007 are for EU3 defenders not EU2. You can fit MSB101170, MSB101170, MSB00080, MSB000360 Pete |

Many thanks for your replies.
In the response from Pete, MSB101170 was listed twice - did you mean MSB101171? I'll have another trawl on the nanocom website to see if I can find the STHLE fuel maps. Do you believe that the MSB ECUs are getting a bit long in the tooth and therefore unreliable? If not, then I am perfectly happy to buy one instead of a newer item, except that they don't seem so easy to find. I suppose that the alternative is to repair the old one that still have - is this an economical way forward? |

Great to know, does that mean that you can use some of the other functions from the NNN ECU like cruise control? |
