I had the same dilemma mate. I kept the 110 and struggled on. Having the 110 though has saved me a small fortune on skips, vans and all the other stuff you just can't do in an Astra.
If there's any way you can keep it that's what I'd do. As now things are slowely back on track I have the 110 still sat on the drive, an awesome feeling!!! Strong people are harder to kill and generally more useful! |

That was the original plan. The Landy is paid off now, so I was planning on keeping it and saving up for the deposit. Then I found the house. In the area I want, needs nothing doing to it, in my price range, etc.
I'd love to still have the Landy 20 years from now, but if I want to get on the property market any time soon it's not going to happen. I could always buy a cheaper Tdi or Td5 a couple of years down the line, but then again it wouldn't be 'mine' in the same way as Big Black is - I'm the first name on the V5, Ive known all it's little niggles and I know what all the odd noises are it makes. Funny how attached I've got to it, and I never realised just how mich until I've thought about selling it. |

Tough call - I sold my 2007 Puma 110 to help fund a house, wished I could have managed without doing so but I did get the house I wanted. John

i sold my old 2007 90 that only had 3k miles on the clock because the misses (NOT LONG EX-MISSES AFTER THIS) and i were looking at houses and needed the deposit, so sold my beauty to keep everyone happy (NOT ME) and got the deposit , even tho i lost on the truck, to then loose the house we wanted and then to find out 4 weeks later the misses had cheated on me as well , was not really bothered about the girl friend just i had to sell the 90 , but have waited and found the right house thats better and cheaper and in a nicer area then before and i have a new 90 on order, so if it was me then keep the Landy and wait and see, but upto you mate and in what ever you do good luck and hope your happy

I've had to do this more than once.
Sorry, but your house is more important than your vehicle (I can't believe I just said that !) |

Cheers for the replies guys. I'm still completely stuck on what to do.
I originally bought Big Black instead of a house, but was planning on moving in with my girlfriend at the time a few months after. Turned out she was messing around behind my back and off with what little deposit we'd saved up, that's why I'm going into this one on my own. I don't really use the Land Rover for what it's built for that much anymore either. It comes in handy in the snow I guess, but I don't help out on the farm anymore, don't use it off road, etc. It still comes in handy to throw the dog in the back when she's full of mud, but not enough to justify a Land Rover. My dads got a van that I could borrow if I need anything big shifting. The reasons for getting rid far outweigh the reasons against, but it's my Land Rover, I wanted a new one for as long as I can remember, and then I got one... And that tips the scales again! Quite pathetic really how attached you can get to an uncomfortable unreliable biscuit tin on wheels eh? |

Feel for you on the above mate, its ribbish butchin up and do what you think is best and there are plenty more that you could buy later on if you want to get back into the landy seen so to speak?. i can say i regret selling mine but after 5 years im getting a new one and NO one will get in my way this time and a bonus is that my new misses wants a free lander or a defender as well Stu |

Common sense says buy the house - Prices are good for a buyer and the house will appreciate over time. When things finally stabilise again, go buy another (provided they are still in production)...
Otherwise, keep the Defender, sell everything else and head somewhere south of the equator!!! |

When my daughter inherited some cash from her grandad, she had a list of what she was going to do with it
1 clear debts 2 use as deposit for house 3 do up house if needed 4 buy furniture 5 buy horse 6 buy shoes and bags She got as far as number 5 and then forgot about the shoes and bags but a bit later on she decided she needed a new vehicle, so no 6 became (via an interest free loan from mum) buy a Landy. Though I would generally say she is useless where money is concerned - I think she got her priorities right on this one. Barbara |
