Tks Brian. The EMS 1 and 2 surely provide the info. Just would be more interested if something could be fitted to make the standard coolant temp gauge in a Puma show the real coolant temp once this climbs to higher than standard working temp. And not just wait to move up until it reaches critical high temps. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

If somebody would be able to come up with that solution, I am a buyer. Don't like this blob we have now. Would love to see the temp gauge show the real thing from min to max so that we can adjust our driving when necessary You never actually own a Defender. Humm, I wonder about this coolant vs. CHT temp reading. Assuming the water temp reported by the Scanguage is actually not the water temp but the CHT, I would expect the CHT reading to match the water temp (since they would be from the same sensor), right? Well, that's not the case here. I usually read CWT (as reported by the std gauge on the SG) between 88/92 Celsius whereas CHT is much higher, usually between 95 and 100 degs Celsius, as reported and computed using the formula I posted here http://www.defender2.net/forum/post151519.html#151519 If that formula is wrong (which is obviously possible), I would still expect both values (CWT and CHT) to correlate perfectly. but that's not even the case, both values vary differently (but not complete opposite of course, they still follow the same trend), so it looks like different temperature readings from different sensors. Please let me know if/where I'm wrong |
