What' the best stuff to put in the engine? Do you have a preference or are all 5W30 alike?

Mine's a 2.4
Mobil Super™ 3000 X1 Formula FE 5W-30 / Castrol Magnatec seems to meet the correct rating. Last edited by Thud on 29th Aug 2012 6:22pm. Edited 1 time in total |

rapeseedoil? sunfloweroil? soybeanoil? or maybe crude palmoil? You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

The 2.2 with DPF requires Castrol Edge 5w30 or Castrol Powerflow Professional as the trade name.
As stated, the 2.4 is 5w30 GTX Professional or Magnatec as it is commonly known. Naks is right on with the Ford specification. |

That's good to know about the DPF. I knew oil was important and specific for them. Think with my 2.4 Magnatec will be fine. Halfords are currently offering it on special offer too.

The Magnatec is pretty much the textbook oil JLR recommend, just make sure it has the Ford spec on the bottle, as it sometimes is General Motors and other brands.

I went with the Castrol Magnatec. Halfords has it half price and there is even a compliant Ford/Land Rover version. Plus it's got 'intellegent molecules' which is always handy.
Thanks for the good adice as always. |
