What is your advice on making things a bit quieter. 2.4 Puma.
* Dynamat extreme or something else? * Where needs doing most? * How easy is doing the front under the seat-wells? Does the existing carpet / rubber come up okay and can it be reused? * Should I do under the bonnet? * Do I just use Dynamat / thin bitumen mat or do I need to lay another sound muffling material on top? Cheers! |

Personally I think that the Puma is O.K. sound wise as it is. Having driven a tdi for years, a Puma is definately a much quieter vehicle. Engine is barely audible as it is. I'd say if you go mad on the sound deadening stuff you will end up hearing the road noise from the tyres a lot more. What exactly is it that you find too noisy? 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

I find the noise too noisy.
Sarcasm aside, in fact it's not too bad but as this my family road car 80% of the time I'd like to reduce the engine noise and probably the tyre noise a bit. I appreciate coming from a Tdi it's quieter but having myself come from a BMW it could do with a decibel or two less. I'm also upgrading the sound system too which is pointless while it's having to compete with the road and engine noise. |

In that case it's a worthwhile thing to do I do believe Chris (Killer90) has done it on his all be it a TD5 but does the same job. I'll see if I can bring his attention to this thread as to what he used and how it's fitted. He even has some pictures or at least did ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

These are fitted at the front:
http://www.raysmith.co.uk/rainbow-car-spea...-watt.html They'll also go in back once I stiffen up the rear speaker enclosures. Haven't decided on a head unit or 4 channel amp yet. There will also be a little powered Focal sub too. I'll at least aim to get the new wires for the amp in while the seats and carpets are out while the sound deadening goes down. |

I take your point. Coming from a BMW a Puma may seem a little noisy but as I never owned a car and went from an earlier Land Rover to the Puma I find it a revalation. I do hear tyre noise rather than engine noise but I am happy with the Puma. I suppose it all depends on what yard stick you use. I am also pleased with the standard sound system but then again it is light years ahead of the previous vehicle.Best of luck but if you will ever get the sound level or the sound system to the levels you were used to is debatable! 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

No that's understandable but any improvement is still improvement. Be interesting to see what can be done. Just want to go about it the most efficient way without covering every unnecessary surface with perhaps the wrong stuff.

Those speakers look pretty powerful going by the size of the magnet I would imagine they JUST fit in the front clearance wise especially in the passenger side with the plastic ducting just behind. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

They don't actually . I had to cut some plastic plates which is a good thing as they make for stiffer baffles than before.

For what it is worth I knew someone who bought camping roll mats and put them under his existing carpets. He also lined the insides of the seat boxes with it as it was simply stuck to the metal. It is easily cut and trimmed. I don't know how it compares with the other purpose made material. Also good as it was I don't know how fire retardant it was! 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
