Front propshaft issue with defender 110 td5!!
Hi there

I have a Defender 110 crew cab on a 02 plate with a 2" lift. it also has 295/95/16 tyres with spacers.

They said that the front prop is worn/noisy and its a Disco 2 TD5 prop with double cardons and needs a new one so I ordered the following

http://www.island-4x4.co.uk/propshaft-fron...-1179.html to replace it.
got delivered this morning

But the garage says this doesn't fit.

Whats the issue here?

I can't go see the car as Im stuck at home with a broken foot!

whats the correct prop or advice on the best prop?

Many thanks!

The Disco Td5 prop uses a different sized drive flange on the transfer box. It's bigger (in diameter) than the one that will fit the propshaft in the link you posted.

You just need to get a "normal" Td5 defender drive flange for them to bolt in place, which is either FRC5442 if you have a 32D suffix transfer box, or a IEC100020 if yours is a 43D suffix (I don't know what the difference is between then, I though they were all the same!)

And beware of the propshaft you've bought... looks l ike a Britpart one.... best carry a spare!

If you've got a 2" lift... I wouldn't replace the propshaft with a wide angle version, I'd get another double cardon version - as per the Td5 Discovery one.

The wide angle one is good for droop, but with a 2" the working angle of the UJ when on the road will be too much, and you will get a vibration.
