Just thought I'd mention this to see if anyone else had noticed.
I fitted a Safari to the Landy and when it came to sealing the filter box, I actually noticed 2 drain holes rather than the main 1 as listed in the instructions. The main one is pretty clever in that it catches any water entering the box and then it goes out the drain before entering. The other was the acual box mount at the front of the engine bay. The bit that goes into the rubber mount has a small hole straight through. I'm guessing this is in case water has entered the main filter box and can then drain out. I just put a small screw from the outside. The more I thought about sealing it all up, the more I got concerned with it all. All the drains are now blocked which is great, but of course, if any water does get through the rest of the sealing it has nowhere to go except into the turbo and blown into the engine............ Looks well
Even though I have a snorkel (as it's dusty around these parts) I wouldn't go into anything that looked dubiously deep anyway.....not with the ecu under the seat ! |
