Hi my brand new 110 xs 2.2 is a terrible drive . when i release the throttle the revs stay on for 3 seconds and when i depress the clutch the revs stay up for 3 seconds . This makes driving almost impossible and gear changing like a 1940s tracktor . When driving at normal speed the vehicle starts sputtering as though its lacking air or fuel .No faults are showing on the dealers diagnostics yet this cannot be normal . Any ideas on this new 2.2

3 seconds sounds a bit too much, but it indeed takes a bit of time to get used to the electronic throttle of the Puma. There indeed is a delay in response to releasing the throttle, and this basically means that before changing gears, you have to first releast the throttle, wait a second or so and then depress the clutch. You will never be able to change gears fast, this is no eurobox or sportsbox, you have to give the mechanism time to do what it has to do without forcing. It took me several weeks to get used to this electronic throttle and the delayed response, but once you have understood it, and provided that you agree to change gears not fast at all, it becomes a gem to drive. The sputtering however at normal speed, no idea what that can be. Again, avoid to handle the throttle too brutally, maybe that will help. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

Thanks for the positive reply . Yep the release of the throttle first then a wait before changing seems to work , strangely the factory asked what i was used to ( TD5 ) and said to change my driving style , that this was the new engine managment system of 3 seconds hold on the rev drop . weird . the TD5 was slick smooth and lovelly in comparison . i find this new 2.2 very difficult . And whats with the exessive blowing noise from the air intake ? its like a burst exhaust

Air intake noise could be the air filter box top is not fitted correctly. They can be a to seat correctly. I found not fully taking my foot of the pedal helps to make the smoother. Just apply a tiny bit of revs.

Mines exactly the same...very annoying and results in a terrible gear change.

i experienced the same, with the late'ish 2,2 clutch release but i've got used to it now, i never change gears fast.
the 2,4 did not have this as new but in the meantime with 80'000 on the clock and still running with the first clutch your forced to change gears slowly anyway. LANDROVER Defender Best 4 x 4 x Far Defender TD4 90 Hardtop 2.4 Defender TD4 110 Hardtop 2.2 |
