well i thought i had a good brake vac pump its lasted for 23k now its leaking and if you ask LR dealer or customer service theywill tell you that they have never heard of one failing , did have a chat with an ex LR mechanic and his advice was to have a pre warrenty inspection done on the understanding that you are going to sign up to an extended warrenty once its done don't sign and if you still want it extended there are scheme that you can get direct from third party, i'm told, and also try to find if there is a mechanic that drives a defender and see if he is a fan, it took me 1 1/2 years to find the one at my dealership but now he is finding bits that 12+ visits have miss'd.

I'm in the same position, apart from mine has 18K on the clock.
I've decided to book it into a well respected local indpendant for it's 2 yr service (tomorrow) along with a thorough inspection of known weak points, gathered from this forum. Must say (fingers crossed/touch wood) that everything on my car appears to work as it should - I had it off-road for a session yesterday and based on the fact it's near standard, I was very pleased with how it performed. I'll let you know how I get on and what, if any suggestions are made. Cheers |
