2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Aintree Green

Clunking noise when slowing down

As title, a clunking noise which has become evident on my 2013 110 XS as I slow down. I think it is more evident when I dip the clutch and hold it down coming to a halt but I cant be sure. Tried to recreate it, but it does not happen all the time. As it doesn't happen all the time its difficult showing symptoms to (German) dealer!

Any thoughts at all?

Check your propshaft UJs and flange joints for slack.

if its after a longer run could be the handbrake binding, is the drum warm? Cheers

Thanks I will, I would not have expected them to be loose after 3000 miles, but I suppose it is a LandRover!!

2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 HCPU Keswick Green

Most likely hand brake, next time try gently lifting hand brake lever a little bit, noise stops = Handbrake. Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

1999 Defender 110 Td5 SW Caledonian Blue

On my TD5 I got clunk clunk clunk when coming to a stop. It was oil on the drum causing the brake shoes to bind coupled with handbrake adjustment. After fixing the leak and adjusting the shoes all is well. 1999 Defender TD5 110
