Here's my dog guard post, as threatened
![]() I wanted a top-half-only dog guard for my 110SW so I could load underneath and so rear passengers can escape in an emergency ![]() ![]() I only used the brackets provided with the guard ![]() Here's the finished product, £50 from SP Landrovers ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge So, first I rounded off the lower mounting points... after discovering the sharp edges carve up the interior trim ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge Then I cut off part of the bulkhead bracket for mounting on the side trim then bent it and drilled and tapped for M8 (the size of the wheel-screw threads: ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge Drilled the trim for M6 rivnuts with washers on the other side for grip. Needed to remove two trim fixings to do this - used the right tool - the fixings are about 2" long and tight as hell! ![]() Click image to enlarge My beloved rivnut tool and beloved butyl to get the washer to stick underneath ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge Fitted bracket: ![]() Click image to enlarge Fitted guard held against the grab handles (see top photo): ![]() Click image to enlarge Loading space: ![]() Click image to enlarge The brackets look a little "home-made" but, I think, perfectly acceptable. Decided not to drill into the roof - I'm using a less "invasive" method to secure to the grab handles (see top photo) At least the dog likes it ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... ![]() Click image to enlarge p.s. don't let her innocent (stoned) looks deceive you - she nearly broke someone's hip the other day, falling over her ![]() p.p.s. In Germany, it's a legal requirement to have a dog in a harness or behind a dog guard... or a 60 Euro fine  Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |
