Can you ID these parts under my bonnet please?
I was going to do the EGR removal on my TD5 so thought I had best look under the acoustic cover as mine falls around the change of type, and I found a few things that have been upgraded but I want to know what they are. I also need to know if the EGR looks like it has been done, so I took some photos.

Please help if you can!

1. Looking from the OS front wing - this is where the EGR bit sits, yes? So what I have got here?

And again from the front:

2. Now, looking from the NS wing you can see the following - but I don't know if it means it is std or not?

3. Is that the EGR blanking part, just behind the radiator at the front of the engine?

4. I also seem to have more of the S/S pipework going from the bottom of the turbo to the front of the car. Not sure what it goes into, maybe the intercooler?

5. Finally, this is looking at the back of my NS headlight and wing. At the bottom you can see a brown rectangular electrical connector - does anyone know what it is for?

Having just read the PDF from Alive Tuning on how to fit the EGR kit, I think I am 99% sure it has been done, the only thing that is different is that the in-line heat exchanger in front of the engine has not been blanked off on the NS end. I'm not sure if this makes any difference? 2016 D4 HSE

Hi Adam,

Yes it's already had the EGR deleted. In photo 1 & 2 the pipe with the harness cable-tied to it is the EGR valve replacement pipe. In photo 1 the welded pipe is coming from the "cold" side of the intercooler.

Photo 3 is the EGR "feed" from the end of the exhaust manifold (standard).

Photo 4 is a blank fitted to the "cold" end of the EGR cooler.

Clearly it's been done here rather than at the exhaust manifold (hot) end as they've not needed/bothered to remove the cooler.

Photo 5 & 6 - yes the pipework goes off to the intercooler.

Has your 90 got a deeper intercooler? That pipework and blue silicone hose isn't standard!

Photo 7 - headlamp levelling plug (not fitted to your 90 as it's a hardtop)  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

No difference to functionality blanking off from the cold end, just a bit lazy to do it there as the redundant cooler is still in place.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Is the actual EGR valve still inline though? It's on the other side of the engine to the turbo?

I used one of the Alive Kits which came with a bit of pipe that means you can remove the valve all together.

You haven't got a picture of it do I can't see... Current:D4 HSE

PM sent ref photo 7.

I'm pretty sure it's not the headlight levelling motor from my own discovery/experience. Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.

Lol
Personally go and buy the right pipes that fit as yours don't look right with those Ali bits and get a nice big intercooler
And a remap from bas and a nice full stainless system it will be worth it I loved the sound of my td5
