you will never get decent base with out a sub. i tried a 4 channel amp powering 4 6x9's and it was laud but no base compared to a sub.

Pyle Chopper 1900w MonoBlock amp
anzar Vector 10" 500w Slim sub
and some VIBE Slick 4 Inch 4" 210w speakers in replace of the standard speakers.
running a pioneer x3 which puts out top quality sound.

regarding subwoofer/amp combo you could look at the Focal Bus 20 or Bus 25 - this is one of the smallest of its type but packs an excellent punch - selectable bandpass filter, remote gain control. I've bolted mine to the rear floor under the seat. Needs a 12V power supply

The fitter did recommend that it could be put in the space under the drivers seat but I didn't want it muffled, or rattling the other stuff. If you do mount something like this under a seat then be prepared to have 'good vibrations' coming up your backside - not everyone's cup of tea

I use an Alpine CDE 126BT head unit, 2x 3 way Pioneer rear pods mounted to the dog guard.......and Rainbow 2 way replacements for the under dash and tweeter replacements for the OEM ones

Decided to buy the Alpine SWE-1000, as it gets great reviews and I like the fact that all my equipment in the LR will be Alpine.

Thanks for the help chaps. 2016 D4 HSE

i have an 8" JL 8W3 sub fitted face up in my cubby box. This is powered by a JL XD400/4 amp fitted inside the cubby box. The box lid is screwed down and the sound is excellent. this set-up was recommended and installed by the car hi-fi centre specialists and i am very pleased with it.

How wide is your cubby box to fit that? When I measured my standard one it was pretty much 6 inch wide so no good for that. Confused

hi kona,
it went straight into the lid of the standard LR Cubbybox; i'm driving my 300tdi at the mo otherwise i would take a pic.
i have got a pic of my old sub in the back of the box on my td5 but i much prefer it in the lid.

Thumbs Up

i believe on the 3 times i've had subs fitted to cubby boxes that they all have been attached to the inside face of the cubby box and then cover grilles fitted to the outside for protection (but i will check the puma tonight)

Cheers, Much appreciated. Only problem with 8 in jobs is there is a limited range. I wonder if a 10in could be squeezed in or not shall have to check measurements. The hinges on mine would also need to be MUCH stronger Rolling Eyes
