110 Utility sides -> Series 88?
Hello everyone,

I would like to replace my 110 SW rear window(ed) sides with windowless utility panels. The hardtop sides of the Series 88 seem to fit and I could get hold of a pair, so I'd like to know if anyone has done such a conversion and if it's a straight forward swap and a good and tight fit.

Alternatively I wouldn't mind installing original 110 SW utility rear panels, but I guess they are pretty expensive when buying them from Landrover - if you can get them at all??

A friend suggested just taking the windows out and putting some sheet alloy on the sides, but this isn't an option as I like to keep the sides with windows.

Any suggestions / help are appreciated!

Thanks
Boris

If you google LR4x4 and username Pathfinder, he did a conversion on his 110 using series 88" side panels. they fit straight in. A slight tweek of the front edge where the second row door seal goes I think, then all is good.

Series 88" panels are ok, but depending on the age of the 110. If its newer then these panels stand out a mile as they have a raised strip at the front whereas the correct panels are smooth. I bought some 110 hardtop panels and my bodyshop shortened them, re- folding the leading edge for the door seals. Only problem if it bothers you is the internal vertical support is located in different place. This would only affect you if fitting aftermarket interior soundproofing panels from TGE or MUD UK.

Thanks for the answers and sorry for the delay - I've had holidays and a computer problem.

So as the sides are of an 1964 Series 2a and my Defender is MY09 they will stick out? I know that I will have to cut some off to fit the seals, but if they protrude that would look odd, I think.

Has anyone ever sources new sides from LR? I guess they charge a fortune?

Cheers
Boris
