I agree... for personal towing, unless traffic officers are stopping you for another reason and know the law very well I highly doubt they would be too bothered / even notice so wouldn't worry! They may take more of an interest if used for commercial purposes hence on the company Disco 4 we had to alter ours to see down the side of the RIB's. On my Defender I found (IF you have flat glass in your extensions, which it doesn't look like from the pic?) I found turning them vertically stopped them folding in, but that wouldn't help if the view isn't improved!! |

I tried everything to stop them folding in, but without success. I'll keep them as they are for now, im happy with the vision they offer, even if not legal!!

The Milenco Extention Arms work a treat, I can now see the actual sides of my caravan..

Cracking thread-learnt a lot. I tow a Elddis Super Scirroco. Struggled with strap on mirrors to the point of slinging them

Although there is one slight drawback...

Thats strange ^^^^, mine fit in the storage bag perfectly. Are you using the Aeros or Grand Aeros? I have the Grand Aeros which probably come with a larger bag??
I keep my cable ties in the bag as well, so they are always at hand when attaching the mirrors. |

I've had these for quite a while now so they're only the Regular Aeros. Darren

Just used 'em for a 200-odd mile journey clamped to the underside of the arms without issue. I did use a precautionary cable-tie, but when I removed those at the end of the journey, the mirrors didn't move at all, suggesting that they really weren't necessary.

I too clamp to the underside of the mirror arm. Just did 150 miles on Sunday with absolutely no issue.
Exactly the same setup as you've got below but didn't bother with the cable tie. The mirrors hadn't moved a bit. Just the job - no cracked glass and good positioning. BTW: I attach the driver's mirror to the front of the mirror arm. If I bolt it to the back, it pushes against my Raised Air Intake when the door is opened and folds the mirror in. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

I do the same, which means you can wind the window down when driving and check that the thumb screws haven't come loose. |

Should I get my Milenco Grand Aero mirrors flat or Convex?

I've just bought a set with flat mirrors, I'm not 100% sure as to whether I should have gone for the convex. i am using them again at the weekend and will try and get them aligned better, the issue is getting a wide enough field of vision.
Clamped to the arms seems fine. Tony |
