Anyone fitted a La Salle headlining on their own?
It's a fairly straightforward job and I'd like to get it done before the Convoy 4 Heroes run on Sunday, but without a spare set of hands I'm not sure if I can do it alone.

Has anyone else done it with a single pair of hands or got any amazing tips on how to hold it up in position while drilling and screwing the damned thing in? Big Cry 2016 D4 HSE

Some strategically placed lenghts of timber to prop up the headlining?

The biggest problem in fitting a headlining is keeping it clean.

I used to have a La Salle headlining - one thing about them is they are solid and completely washable - so not so much of a worry about getting dirty hand prints on them!

Only problem I had with mine was it getting mildewed over winter (condensation!) - but just a damp cloth and a bit of fairy liquid and elbow grease and it was tip-top again!

I fitted on in my old DC on my own. That was a 2 piece one. Can't remember too may issues, although I didn't use the supplied plastic fixings. I had some black hex head TEK screws, which I felt held the lining better. I still drilled pilot holes though. It was quite a good fit, but was under tension in a place or two, hence the use of screws. Bits of wood as props would be a good idea though. I think the hardest thing was man handling the thing into the truck in the first place. I glued foam camping mats to the top of mine first in an attempt to insulate it. Used spray contact adhesive for this. Rich

Thanks Richuk, mine roof is now fully insulated with aluminium backed sound deadening foam so no worries there.

Mine is in 3 pieces and the supplied fixings are now better, they no longer give you the little fir tree clips but instead the VW T5 style rivet fixings, much better quality. 2016 D4 HSE
