EGR blanking?
OK, I did a search for this here but found zip.

Can anyone tell me where on the TD5 engine the EGR is located and what it looks like before it's been blanked off and what it might look like after?

I want to figure out if mine's been done.

Thanks

PS: If anyone knows how hard or easy it is that'd be great too! 2016 D4 HSE

Take acoustic cover off engine,

If there is a big sticky out bit with little pipes going to it, on the inlet manifold, where intercooler hose attaches, you still have one.

Easy job to remove Thumbs Up

What it looks like depends on the age of vehicle. As an 03 yours should have the later type with two pneumatic actuators on - earlier ones only had the one. Yours should therefore be blanked in the same way as the instructions above.

Here's our Td5 EGR blanking kits - http://www.alivetuning.com/EGR_Bypass.html

You will need an EU3 kit, as you will have the EGR cooler at the front of your engine.

Our EGR kit fitting instructions are available to download here: http://www.alivetuning.com/docs/EGR%20bypass%20kit.pdf

Regards,

Gary.

Has already been De-cat'd, already got K&N filter, already got silicone hoses. I'd be surprised if the EGR isn't done. Will take a look over the weekend. 2016 D4 HSE

Okay this may be a dumb question but if you de-cat a late td5 and remove EGR will this make the vehicle fail the new 2012 MOT rules that come into force in April ?

Exhaust

A catalytic convertor fitted as original equipment but missing will be a reason for failure.

No Peter, not at this stage 'spark ignition engines' only Cool

This was interesting though on the Pistonheads thread:

rds1210 said:
just took the car for mot i checked it over three weeks ago give the underneath a thin coat of waxoyl the vehicle passed the mot but the mot fellow said if the underneath is like that next year he will refuse to mot it Can he do this

I only sprayed a thin coat three weeks ago and because of the weather it as not dry out yet

HAVE OTHERS HAD THIS PROBLEM before
He could have refused to MOT it this year if he thinks it's dirty enough and nothing to do with any changes in January, take it elsewhere next year.

I think its the Waxing issue, MOT'ers tend to dislike the wet stuff or its laid on too thick.
Same goes its its covered in heavy mud I believe.

When I removed the centre silencer on my D2 Td5, I noticed much quicker turbo spool-up, faster acceleration, and a slight reduction in fuel consumption. --
