I've used 2 aerosols of ACF-50 so far (not just on the Defender, but found it to be a really good general lube & protection spray).
ACF seems to be a superb product. MrsK is getting her Evoque on 2nd March, and I was going to buy another couple of cans (well actually I was going to try it in liquid form and use a hand spray-gun I have). However... Scottoiler FS 365 - http://www.scottoiler.com/uk/Lubes-Cleaner...e.tpl.html FS 365 is much cheaper, and would appear to be a similar product...anyone tried it??? Thanks, Zag - looks like it's ACF for me then!
Didin't realise you were a biker as well. Your new avatar confused me for a mo - no more Defender-in-the-woods-with-a-yellow-thing-on-the-back... I'll order a "quart" of ACF in liquid form I think and see how that works out. Didn't realise it comes in liquid form, where do you get it from? Got to be cheaper than an aerosol a week I get through

Yup...
It comes in a "quart" (32fl oz) http://www.chainspeed.co.uk/products/ACF%2...rmula.html Around £30/litre in liquid About £14 for an aerosol which is only a third of a litre (so about £40/litre in aerosol, and £30/litre liquid) Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

Lovely bike
I had a Yamaha XJR 1300 - too big to swing about and too uncomfortable on long journeys especially without a screen |

You can get it on eBay too. Often sold with a pump-action dispenser.

Also came across this at the boat show recently - bought some but haven't tried it in anger yet - not sure if it's made by the same people as ACF50 or just same importer.

Is this stuff suitable for applying to areas already showing rust? Ive got some early signs of rust appearing on my body cappings which I want to sort out soon.

Yes - as Zagato says, ACF-50 also kills rust. My findings are that it's a superb product...just a bit pricey...but you pay for quality I guess! Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

Polishes the bodywork up quite nicely too (I'm serious) Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

You're not wrong there. When I sprayed all along both sides up underneath the body cappings, I ended up with rivers of the stuff running down the side of the body work, which eventually polished up nicely! Pete |

the quart bottles are definitely better than the aerosols
I just soak a rag in it and wipe my bike all over apart from the seat, grips, rotors and clocks. Everything else gets done including wheels, spokes, forks, plastic bits, levers, bolts, - everything metallic or plastic really. I do use a spray on the engine as you cant really wipe it easily. Also headers, collector, pipes get the treatment. It manily burns off those (clouds ) but still leaves them protected. When it gets dirty you just use a light hosing with cold water, not hot, and dont wipe it. Scottoiler is hopeless. Too much fling. I use Wurth High Performance dry lube, works a treat. |
