Gawd! This is getting confusing although I admit to being easy to confuse.
I've just got a 2010 Defender and the handbook says about opening and shutting the door and turning the ignition x number of times depending on the secuirty code. But nowhere is there a security code except for the radio. I rang the main stealer who delivered the vehicle and have always serviced it and was told no access code is necessary. But when in their parent company (owned by the same mob of ******) a couple of days later I'm told "Yes there's a code" and they rang me a couple of hours later and gave it to me! What is going on with these turkeys? Who is right or who is wrong? Why the hell can't they get their act together? AlanH. |

Seems to be the normal resopnse here Alan. I was told the EKA code does not exist for my 2010 Defender. I have since retrieved it with my Faultmate.

Hi Tim. Long time no see as they say.
Is the Faultmate the best type of diagnostic tool for Defenders? I want to get one "just in case" the worst happens and there seems to be a few different brands around. Please advise. Cheers. Alan. |

Hi Alan, they are the most comprehensive, but also the most expensive. You're more than welcome to have a look at my Faultmate to see if it suits you. (Just fire me a PM if you like).

I don't think there is a difference. I think they're one and the same Darren

My land rover dealer gave me my EKA code over the phone after sending an email to someone, got a response in <1hr then rang me.
If anyone's really stuck I could ask him who it was he emailed and then you should be able to get your dealer to contact them (I'm assuming it's some part of Land Rover obviously) Never tried it though but he have the 4 digit code Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Sorry to be slightly off topic but, I know my EKA due to accessing the data via Nanocom on my Td5. My query is that allthough I know the code how am I supposed to get it into the motor......................mine didn't have central locking so how can any input get to the immobiliser unit via a lock that is not electrically attached to anything?

I think the EKA code is input by opening & closing the door on all defenders, not by doing anything with the barrel. Your td5 will still 'know' if the door is open because the alarm goes off if a door is opened doesn't it? You also have to do something with the key in the engine ignition barrel. All should be explained in the handbook I suppose but I think that's it. Cheers, David
